Non-Profit Spotlight: Celeste Richards of New Beginnings 4U
The Mission & Vision
New Beginnings 4U Inc. serves individuals and families in some of Wake County's most marginalized communities. The organization operates with a forward-thinking concept: by providing needs-specific items, they help families, senior citizens, and veterans drastically reduce daily household expenses, empowering them to better manage other debts and gain long-term stability.
The Legacy
The organization was originally birthed as a local community project in the home of Celeste’s mother, Mary Hodges Dunn. Mary sought out food and clothing for neighbors who fell into the gap—those who needed help but didn't qualify for formal government assistance programs.
Celeste worked faithfully by her mother’s side for years. Following her mother's passing in April 2022, Celeste took up the mantle. Despite managing her own health concerns, she used her "toolkit" of relationship-building and strategic planning to scale her mother's neighborhood vision into an official, impactful 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Impact & Operations
While the initiative began strictly with basic food and clothing, Celeste expanded the organization's scope to address modern, essential household needs. New Beginnings 4U Inc. collects and distributes essential items year-round, including:

- Shampoo & Conditioner
- Soap & Deodorant
- Toothbrushes
Through her leadership at New Beginnings 4U Inc., Celeste Richards does far more than distribute essential items; she honors a profound family legacy while filling a critical gap for Wake County’s most vulnerable residents. By transforming her mother's grassroots vision into a thriving 501(c)(3) organization, Celeste proves that true community change starts with empathy, persistence, and a willingness to show up for your neighbors. Her dedication ensures that families, veterans, and seniors in Raleigh don't just get by, but are given the foundation and dignity they need for a true new beginning.
